Google sometimes adds an interesting feature and sometimes removes one. But sometimes it happens that it eliminates a tool that users liked and used a lot. And suddenly it's gone. But now it seems that Google has acknowledged its mistake and is bringing the player back.

And it's no coincidence. Back in the spring of 2025, this portal revealed that Google working on the player's return.

If Google does bring back this player and the picture-in-picture (PiP) mode, it will be a huge relief for many users. You will be able to continue the conversation and at the same time watch the video being played with one eye. And what's more, it should be possible even without the app YouTube – the entire solution is fully part of Google News.

It is not clear when the player would YouTube could make it to the stable version of the Google News app. It's currently only being tested with a limited number of users, so Google is clearly not quite done with it yet. But with a bit of luck, we could see it soon.
