In the December Android 16 QPR2 update, Google has introduced with great fanfare a feature that it deprived users of in 2014. These are widgets on the lock screen, which will give you new options for quick control of your mobile phone and are customizable in various ways. And while Pixel owners can already test them, users of other mobile phones have to wait until their manufacturers include them in their next build. If they include them there at all. Is there any chance that we will see widgets on the lock screen in HyperOS 4 and therefore also on Xiaomi, POCO and Redmi mobile phones?

4.2 Android Jelly Bean brought native widgets to the lock screen and was then adopted by many other mobile manufacturers. On devices Xiaomi was available at that time MIUI V5, which didn't borrow a feature from Google - instead, it used own solutionThis consisted of using various dynamic elements and did not support third-party widgets.

Google quietly removed home screen widgets in 2014. They have not been available since then. But perhaps Apple has been offering something similar to its users for years. Now perhaps Google has figured out that it wasn't such a bad solution, and is therefore offering it as part of second quarterly update Android 16QPR2 has returned this feature. But only on Pixels for now. Whether other manufacturers will want to use it for their phones is entirely up to them. And so we can start speculating whether we will see widgets on the lock screen in the next update. HyperOS 4 designed for POCO, Redmi and Xiaomi mobiles.

Of course, it's not certain, but it's likely. Why? Because Google's new solution is based on laminated panels and limited access to data. Thus, protecting user privacy more than before, widgets display only certain informationmace and you can only get to the detailed ones after biometric verification. And this safer layout will Xiaomi probably to please.

But it is likely that Xiaomi mobile phone users will see certain restrictions and clear rules. A strict selection of widgets can be expected, with those focused on Xiaomi services, smart home and vehicle integrationBut we still have to wait for the real solution.
