Searching on Google can sometimes feel like a lottery bet. You type in a keyword and then wait anxiously to see what it finds and which sources it will draw from first. The websites are neatly arranged, but you may find some of them untrustworthy or have personal reservations about them. Fortunately, you can now force Google to give you answers from websites you mark as your preferred ones. At least in the News category.
Google introduced a tool called Preferred sourcesBut it was experimental and only a fraction of users could use it. That's changing now, with Google launching the Preferred Sources feature. for all English-speaking usersAnd we can hope that they will soon adapt it for other languages, because it is an ideal way to force the search engine to cooperate and show what you stand for.
How do Preferred Sources work? It's easy. The next time you open a search window via Google and start searching, you may notice that next to the results, small square icon with a star. Unfortunately, it is currently only available for news articles, i.e. in the News section. But here, credibility is the most important item, so it's good that Google developed this feature.
When you see a square, click on it and it will appear in front of you window with label "Search by name or website". There you enter the exact the address of the website you want to see from next time among the first news sources. And you save. If you want to prioritize more websites, just write them there. And then Google will adapt to your wishes. So you will save yourself unnecessary searching, going through the clutter and finally get personalized news. And even outside Google Discover.
