Android 16 QPR3 is the next big quarterly update for Pixel phones. And it's expected to arrive in March. Unlike regular security patches, QPR updates bring visible changes to the system, settings, and everyday use. Below is a rundown of the six main new features that Google is planning in this version.

Option to remove At a Glance widget

One of the most significant changes in Android 16QPR3 there is an option to delete the widget At a Glance from the home screen. The widget with the date, weather and calendar events remains on the lock screen, but from the top of the screen it can now be hidden directly in its settings. And I appreciate that Google has finally decided to let us make room and use it for your own widgets and icons.

Adjustable flashlight brightness

Android 16 QPR3 adds flashlight brightness control. After turning on the flashlight in the quick settings, just hold the icon and a light intensity slider will appear. The function is simple, but in my opinion very practical, especially when used indoors or at night.

New navigation button layout

For three-button users, there is an increasing number of alternative navigation layouts. You can now swap Back and Overview buttons, similar to what is common with Samsung phones. The option is available in the navigation mode settings. And we can only say – finally!

Redesigned adaptive connectivity

Adaptive connectivity is newly divided into two separate functionsOne automatically switches to mobile data when Wi-Fi is poor, the other optimizes network selection for battery life. Both options can be enabled independently.

A clearer System page in Settings

Section System The Settings app is now logically divided into categories. The important System Updates item is moved to the top, making checking for new versions faster and clearer.

Better overview of location access

Android 16 QPR3 significantly improves informing about the use of location by applicationsA blue dot will appear in the top bar, which, when expanded, will offer details about the specific application and quick access to change permissions.

Overall, QPR3 does not bring any revolution, but a number of minor adjustments that are intended to make everyday use more pleasant. PixelsBut one thing that impressed me the most about it is that Google is listening to its users, their complaints and requests for improvements. And it's trying to reflect all of that into Android.
