The same message is popping up again for the upcoming global version of the Xiaomi 17: the battery capacity is supposed to be smaller than the Chinese model. According to the latest leak, the international variaThe Xiaomi Mi 17 gets a 6,330 mAh battery, while the Chinese version has 7,000 mAh. In practice, this is a 10% difference. And although this is a common strategy for Xiaomi, the fact is that even in Europe there are more and more mobile phones with 7,000 mAh and larger batteries that users can prefer.

The good news is that even with a battery, you Xiaomi 17 should have stayed 100W wired a 50W wireless charging. The chip is also counted Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5So Xiaomi fans can rest assured – at least the manufacturer is not cutting down on the performance of the device in any way.

To me, this is exactly the kind of compromise that people will only start to care about in real life when they see the difference in real-world usage time, not on paper. But if Xiaomi is targeting customers who buy a phone mainly for its battery life, it will have to explain this decision well (or balance it with better optimization).

Other specifications of Xiaomi 17

The leak suggests that two configurations of the Xiaomi 17 are set to hit global markets:

  • 12GB RAM + 256GB internal storage
  • 12GB RAM + 512GB internal storage

Colors are about preservation black, light blue and pink, while white to be replaced for the global version dark green.

For Europe, there is speculation about a launch on € 999 (256GB). For the model Xiaomi 17 Ultra is mentioned up to € 1 499The launch timing is reportedly set to come out on beginning of March, i.e. the period when news from Samsung is also expected – Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 UltraIf confirmed, it will be a direct battle of flags - with the only difference being that Xiaomi will argue larger battery even after "downgrade".

But there is one thing I regret the most – it has not yet been confirmed that more advanced models will be released globally. Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max equipped with rear screens. These would be much more tempting, but the manufacturer is keeping them exclusively for China. And for the next generation Xiaomi 18 it will probably end the same.
