Our editorial team received the new Nothing Phone (4a) for testing. It is the basic model of the new series, which was introduced today and will be available in stores on March 13. In terms of price and features, it will more or less compete with Galaxy A37, so I took a closer look. It comes in four colors this time, with a new blue and a new pink. But I got my hands on the classic white.
Nothing Phone (4nd) It is stored in a rectangular box with an interesting opening that resembles a zipper. In addition to the mobile phone itself, the package also includes a charging cable and a transparent silicone back case. Plus a stylish key for opening the SIM card slot.
The phone is set up like all other Android phones, so you can use data transfer from your existing Android phone or iPhone. Or don't transfer anything and set everything up from A to Z. I was impressed that you can choose the display type right from the start. Nothing is betting on its superstructure NothingOS with typical widgets, but if you want pure Android, there's also this option.

I chose the Nothing theme, but I was pleasantly surprised by one thing. It lacked the bottom bar with the back and home buttons. Nothing uses a special deed, which are unfamiliar to people used to regular Androids. I tried to figure something out through trial and error and then I found a bar in the settings that finally gave me back the usual way of controlling it.
Forget about one-handed operation
When I Nothing Phone (4nd) When I picked it up for the first time, three things surprised me:
- large thickness, which reaches 8,55 mm
- considerable size (dimensions are 163,95 x 77,57 mm)
- rear glass that looks very fragile
So I quickly came to three conclusions – Nothing Phone (4a) is diagonally 6,78 " and wider frames very large. Forget about one-handed operation and for a child or a person with smaller hands, even holding it can be problematic. And the back of the mobile phone is covered with transparent glass, which allows you to see inside, but It feels more like plastic when tapped.So the mobile phone quickly went into a transparent cover.
I also find the camera island a bit awkward. It is cleverly placed in the center, so the phone doesn't nod, but it stands out significantly and is not covered by the case. So the cameras are very gets dirty quicklyWhich is quite impractical.

But I was intrigued by a new element that Nothing called Glyph Bar. They are squares placed in a column, each of them consists of many tiny diodes and the bottom square is red. It can flash in different ways if a person saved in your contacts is calling you. You can use it to count down. The squares gradually light up before the alarm rings. It is effective, interesting and the glow is visible even when you put the mobile phone upside down, which is nice.
At first glance, I Nothing Phone (4nd) That's why I decided to give it a full try and I'll bring you my impressions in review. And I took it outside to test its cameras. So you can see the results in a separate photo test. And I can already tell you that the quality of the cameras in the composition impressed me. 50 + 50 +8 MPx I was very pleasantly surprised.
