Get from smartphone Google Pixel maxSometimes, it takes a little digging beneath the surface of the user interface. Modern smartphones are packed with technology, but many of the most useful software tools remain hidden. If you want to take your device's efficiency to the next level, here are four Android features that will change your everyday user experience.

Quick tap on the back of the phone

Function Quick Tap first appeared in the year 2021 and all models from version 1.0 onwards have it Pixel 4a and above. Yet many users have forgotten about it in the flood of newer updates. The principle is very simple – just double tap on the back Pixel in the area below the camera. This way, you can instantly initiate various system actions without having to unlock the screen or search for icons.

Supported events include:

  • Start or pause multimedia playback
  • Taking a screenshot (an ideal alternative for those who were used to specific gestures on older phones, such as the knuckle tap on the Honor brand)
  • View a list of recently launched apps or the notification panel
  • Instantly open any selected application

You can easily activate the Quick Tap option in the menu: Settings > System > Gestures > Quick Tap.

In-app shortcuts on the desktop

This feature wasn't heavily promoted by Google when it was introduced, but it has become a solid and extremely useful part of the Android ecosystem. It allows create shortcuts for specific sections or functions inside individual apps and place them directly on the home screen next to the regular icons.

The options vary depending on the specific title, but platforms such as YouTube (the representative will take you directly to the Subscriptions section), Social media coordinator (immediately opens the interface for creating a new post) or DiscordThis feature makes the most sense in Discord, because you can place icons on your desktop that lead directly to specific communication channels, eliminating the need to navigate through the application's structure.

How to do it? Open application list, hold your finger on the icon of the selected title and from the context menu that appears drag and drop desired shortcut to the desktop. Although the feature is not supported by all applications on the market, those that are compatible (including Facebook) represents a huge time saver.

Precise cursor control via Gboard

Editing minor text errors on a touchscreen is often a test of patience. Trying to get your finger exactly between the two correct letters to correct a single character is inefficient and frustrating. The integrated software keyboard offers a solution. Gboard, you just need to know where exactly to perform the gesture.

For smooth and precise cursor movement, simply perform finger stroke left or transport directly after the spacebar. Attempts to scroll by dragging anywhere else on the keyboard surface do not work and may lead to the belief that the feature has been removed from the system. This simple trick allows for surgically precise text navigation and instant error correction.

Notification history

One of the best features Android has ever received is, paradoxically, disabled by default. It is Notification history and works as a continuous log of all push notifications that have arrived on the device. If in Pixel If you accidentally delete an important notification with one careless swipe of your finger, you might never know what it was without this feature.

In this interface you can not only view a complete overview of missed events, but tapping on the notification will take you straight to move to the appropriate application to the place where the system originally directed you. You can manually activate the function that can save you in critical moments in the section: Settings > Announcement > Notification history.
